Louis E. Fierro, MD a long time resident of Chappaqua, NY and more recently of Somers, NY passed away March 27th, 2018. Louis was born August 2nd, 1928 at Flower & Fifth Avenue Hospitals in NYC to Edward and Angelina Fierro.
Louis graduated from Syracuse University and then The New York Medical College in 1960. He did his Internship at Lenox Hill Hospital and his Residency at Flower & Fifth Avenue Hospitals in Anesthesiology. He was Assistant Chief for several years and then was appointed The Director of Anesthesiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in 1974 until his retirement in 1997. He was a Diplomat and Fellow in the National Board of Medical Examiners; American Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow Of the American College of Anesthesiology and Chest Surgeons. Dr. Fierro spoke world wide and had many scientific papers published. He also was the Chairman of The Haitian Biomedical Society.
Louis was instrumental in implementing the Outpatient Surgical Center at Lenox Hill Hospital. A surgical suite was named in his honor.
Dr. Fierro always remembered The New York Medical College and served as The President of the Alumni Association for 9 years and was a faculty member of his Alma Mater. He received The Alumni Medal of Honor in 1993 and The Distinguished Award in 2004. A member of the A.O.A., an honor medical society.
Louis is survived by his wife Rebecca and 3 children, Catherine, Caroline (Ned) and Louis Jr. (Susan) and 6 grandchildren, Nicholas, Samuel, Cole, Nolan, Ariel and Joshua. Surviving also are his siblings John, Marie, Eugenia and Edward and numerous nieces and nephews
