John, I really love the photo of you your family has chosen. Some friendships transcend age. You were eighteen years older than me, but it never felt that way. With your energy, grin and playful spirit, you had a knack for making life feel lighter. You were refreshingly honest, wonderfully cheeky, and always full of good advice. You never minced words, and that’s what I loved most about you. Whether I needed encouragement or a reality check, you told it straight—no sugarcoating, just the truth wrapped in wisdom / wit. Your frankness wasn’t harsh; just always delivered with warmth and care. Even when life threw challenges your way, you met them head-on with humor and grit. There was no pretending with you—just honesty, mischief, and a rare kind of wisdom that I’ll always carry with me. I’ll miss your teasing, your stories, and that twinkle in your eye whenever you were about to say something cheeky but true. Thank you for your friendship, for being unapologetically you, and for reminding me that life’s too short for anything less than full honesty and joy. Rest easy, John. You were one of a kind, and I’ll carry your spirit with me always. With great affection. James Tully
