I am Marge Slachmuylder. Joanne was an amazing and valuable tax preparer for the AARP Tax Aide Program. We often carpooled together to training sessions, and whenever there was a disagreement on the meaning of the tax code, Joanne would calmly raise her hand and explain. When the preparers had trouble understanding some rare tax form our clients had brought to us, and we were about to ignore it, Joanne would be on our backs to obey the law to a tee and research that form! And, when a client sat down at her table, they always received intelligent and compassionate service. I feel so lucky to have known her, even though, as Jackie said, although she had strongly held opinions, we always debated with humor and friendship.

I am Beth Hollander. Joanne and I were great tennis and bridge buddies for over five years. Joanne was an amazing tennis player and could beat most of us most of the time! Winning didn’t matter to Joanne. She just wanted to get her exercise and have a good time She was.also a skilled bridge player where we played duplicate games twice weekly. Although full of laughs and fun, Joanne was stickler for the rules in tennis and bridge. She was.quick to let you know if you missed an important rule!! Both tennis and bridge friends will miss her smile, good humor and skill in these hobbies. It will not be the same without Joanne. We will all miss her terribly
