John Joseph Cucchiarella, 64, of White Plains, NY passed away on his birthday, March 4th, 2026. He was born in the Bronx on March 4th, 1962 to Betty and Lucian Cucchiarella. His childhood roots were in Somers, NY where he grew up playing little league and high school baseball, football, and enjoying time with his large group of friends.
Entrepreneurial spirit and creativity led John to owning his own construction company. He had a natural ability for design and renovation, adding his personal touch, talent, and skills to any project, whether it was a client’s or his own. His love of cooking prompted him to open Cucch’s Pizza in Somers, a dream which he made a reality and became a community staple for many years. Eventually he became a bricklayer for Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local 1. Always striving to achieve greatness, he gained additional training, and became a shop steward, foreman, then business agent and finally vice president of the union before he retired. Through this lifetime of endeavors, John cultivated numerous long lasting friendships. And as one of his friends stated, “you could feel his love and his smile was infectious.”
Most of all, John cherished his three sons, Nicolas, John, and Christian. He coached their teams, and dedicated his life to their travel baseball and other interests. He was always cooking delicious foods for his growing boys. John absolutely adored his four beautiful grandchildren ranging in age from four months to seven years old; they were the highlights of his life.
Most recently, John enjoyed spending time going out to dinner, listening to music, or cooking and sitting by the fire with his fiancé Sonia, as well as meeting friends for lunch at various restaurants. He loved going to the beach in Cape May, NJ to relax in the warm sun and listen to the waves.
John is survived by his parents, Lucian and Betty Cucchiarella; children, Nicolas (Jessica); John, (Daniela); Christian (Alek); grandchildren, Olivia, Victoria, Matteo, Gio; Sister, Debbie (Bob), brother, Lucian; and nieces, nephew, and great nieces.
Rest in peace, John. May you travel on angels’ wings surrounded by love, to happiness in heaven.
