Obituary of Joan Spano
Joan E. Spano, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 20 at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family and church.
Her greatest joys in life were being a wife and a homemaker. Joan loved food, cooking and wine, and found joy in collecting recipes and creating delicious meals and desserts for others. A steadfast partner to her beloved husband, George, for over 70 years; a nurturing mother to her children, and a doting grandmother and great grandmother, Joan treasured every moment spent with family.
She had a rich and varied career. One of her favorite jobs was working with children as a teacher's aide in the North Salem School District. Joan also served as a business manager at several corporations, and as a co-owner of a petroleum company.
Her love for adventure was evident in the many camping trips she took with friends, creating cherished memories around campfires and under the stars. Joan appreciated nature, enjoyed gardening, and tended to her flowers with care.
Her faith in Jesus was her anchor, guiding her through life with grace and strength. Joan was honored to serve as a Eucharistic minister in the Catholic Church, a role that allowed her to bless others. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, generosity of spirit, laughter and quiet strength with which she supported those around her.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, George; her daughters, Sue (Kenny) Gibson and Karen Crisco; her son, Scott (Trish) Spano; and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry her love and memory in their hearts. She is now reunited with those who passed before her, resting in eternal peace.
Cherished and missed, Joan’s love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A service to honor her life will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY 10536, on Monday, March 3rd from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
