Obituary of Frances M. Casabona

Frances Marie Casabona (“Fran”), 78, of Somers, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6th surrounded by her loving family. Born January 16^th, 1947 to Josephine and Frank Thompson, Fran grew up in Yonkers, NY and lived a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication to her family.

A graduate from Commerce High School in Yonkers, Fran worked at several corporate firms in New York City — her longest role at Xerox. After raising her two children, Fran returned to work as a medical transcriptionist at Katonah Medical Group, where she spent more than 20 years known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and compassionate support for patients.

Fran found immense joy in traveling with her family, exploring international and Caribbean destinations. However, her heart was always drawn to Montauk, NY — a place she cherished. She treasured the time spent with her dear friends, sharing laughter, stories, and unforgettable moments. Above all, Fran adored her role as 'Super Nona' to her towering and adored grandsons, Ethan and Nate. She continuously showered them with love and support, expressing unwavering pride.

Fran is survived by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Patrick Casabona of Somers, NY. She was a caring and devoted mother to Amanda, her husband Larry Cohen, and cherished son, Patty, who predeceased her in 2008 but will remain forever in her heart. She was a devoted grandmother to Ethan and Nate Cohen. She will be remembered by her many family members and loving friends.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY, on Monday, March 10th, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 11th, at 12:00 PM at Ivandell Cemetery.

Fran’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
