Obituary of Mary E. Joyce

Mary Joyce of North Salem passed into God’s loving care on March 6, 2025 following a long illness.   She was a past resident of Chappaqua and Fishkill. 

Following graduation from Chappaqua schools, Mary was employed at Reader’s Digest until she retired.  Mary is well-known for being “Carolyn Davis” Reader’s Digest spokesperson for many years.

Mary was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Somers and enjoyed her membership in the NS Senior Citizens, Red Hats, and the North Salem Democratic Club.  She enjoyed chair yoga, bowling and was an avid reader.

Mary is predeceased by her parents John and Ellen Joyce and her brother, John.  She is survived by her many special friends including Pat Carey, Eleanor Sabo, and Barbara Constable.  Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers including Patty Tompkins. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Alice and niece Ellen.

Mary’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 14 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah.

 Friends may gather at Clark Associates Funeral Home on Saturday, March 15 at 9 a.m. prior to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, in Somers at 10 a.m.

Internment at St. Francis Cemetery in Mt. Kisco.
