Obituary of Virginia L. Cone

Virginia Lillian Cone, of Somers, New York, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 87.  She was born on May 4, 1937, in Bronx, New York to Thomas and Lillian (Schaeffler) Martin.  Virginia was a devoted wife to her husband of 44 years, George Cone. 

She was a homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren. She had an infectious laugh that filled a room, and her presence always made you feel comfortable, happy, and loved.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Joan Shea, and her twin brother Larry Martin. She is survived by her brother Thomas Martin, her sister Terry (Bruno Loehrer) Martin, her children, George (Cynthia) Cone, Jr., Janine (Matt) Metcalf, and Thomas Cone, and her grandchildren, George Cone, III, Dan (Rebecca) Cone, Matthew (Gray) Metcalf and Virginia (Ginny) Metcalf.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Martin, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:30 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Virgina L. Cone’s memory.
