Obituary of William A. Moore, Jr.
William A. “Bill” Moore, Jr., 87, a long-time resident of Croton Falls, NY and formerly of Tarrytown, NY, died on April 6, 2025 at his home.
Bill was born on August 29, 1937, in White Plains, NY to the late William A. Moore and Mary Agnes Tully. He was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Tarrytown and honorably served 9 years in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves.
He was an esteemed electronic technician for 56 years with Ruhle Industries, Inc. (formerly Farrand Controls, Inc.) in Valhalla, NY, retiring in 2018 at the age of 80.
Bill is the loving father of William of Richford, VT, and Dawn (Joseph) Petruso of Pawling, NY. He is the devoted grandfather of Dana and Danielle, step-grandfather of Alex and Connor, and uncle of Sherry (John), Gail (Mike), Michelle (Justin) and their families. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Max, who has been his devoted companion throughout his declining years.
He was pre-deceased by his loving sister Patricia Koster.
Bill was a long-time member of The Westchester Firefighters Emerald Society Pipe and Drums Corps and proudly served as a bagpiper at parades and events throughout the state, including the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Manhattan, and the annual September 11th and Memorial Day ceremonies in North Salem. He was a member of the North Salem branch of the American Legion. He played ice hockey, built and flew model airplanes, and was a prolific country western dancer. A man of broad interests and talents, he achieved many things. Most of all he was known for his kindness and his faith.
Family and friends may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah NY on Thursday April 10, 2025, from 4-8pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY on Friday April 11, 2025, at 10am.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA or the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
