Obituary of Mary P. Kocur
Mary Pauline Kocur, a lifelong resident of Yonkers, NY, passed away on May 28, 2025, at the age of 94.
Born on September 21, 1930, in Yonkers to Joseph and Mary Mihalco, Mary was deeply rooted in the community that she loved. She attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Commerce High School. Mary devoted her life to her family as a loving homemaker and faithful parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Church, both in Yonkers and White Plains.
Mary was tough but tender, fiercely independent, deeply loving, and never afraid to speak her mind. With a big heart and a strong will, she faced life with grit, grace, and unwavering love.
Mary took pride in cooking for her family, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing, and loved going to the casino, but above all, her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Emil Kocur; her son, Edward Kocur; and her parents, Joseph and Mary Mihalco.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Emil Kocur, and his wife, Mary. She was the proud grandmother of Courtney, Meredith, Stephanie, Christopher, and Jennifer, and embraced her grandson’s wife, Jen, as one of her own. Her treasured great-grandchildren, Christopher, Casey, and Caroline brought her daily joy. She was also grateful for the kindness of Stephanie’s boyfriend, Philip, and the devoted friendship of her neighbor, Loretta.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, 768 North Street, White Plains, NY 10605. There will be no wake, but friends and family are welcome to arrive early to pay their respects.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Church, 768 North Street, White Plains, NY 10605, in Mary’s memory.
She loved us all — truly, deeply, and without condition. And now, she is at peace.
Mary Pauline Kocur will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
