Bill Smith posted a condolence

Very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing.
Mike and I were what you would call sports buddies. We played tennis together in Bedford for many years then transferred our athletic skills to golf in Carmel after our knees, shoulders and legs were giving out on the tennis courts. Golf allowed us to get to be closer friends with lots of time between swings to share our stories about life’s journey. I will always remember the memories shared with Mike and what an outstanding person he was.
RIP my friend,
Bill Smith

With deep regret I understand that Michael has passed. Michael and I, Peter Hamel, knew eachother since the late 50s when we both went to the school "Gymansium für Jungen im Alstertal". We both enjoyed active and competitive field hockey in our City Hamburg, although in different Hockey Clubs.
When my wife Hanni and I stayed as a graduate student at M.I.T. in Boston in the years 1964/1965 Michael payed us a visit and we went together to the wonderful island Cape Cod which is similar to the german Island, where I am just staying in order to recover from the death of my beloved wife Hanni. I will enlose a photo of Michael and Hanni dating from 1965.
I will keep fond memories of Michael with whom I very often exchanged season greetings.
