Obituary of Patrick James Heffernan
Patrick James “Heff” Heffernan
Pat Heffernan died peacefully on Thursday, June 12, at his home in North Salem, NY surrounded by his family and loved ones. He had fought a valiant and determined battle with cancer with everything he had for over 6 years.
Pat was born on June 26, 1965. He was married in 1992 to his loving wife, Maureen, who was Pat’s every day inspiration to keep going, and fight to keep their life together. Maureen fought beside him and was the best advocate and partner that Pat could have ever hoped for. He was thankful for Maureen every day.
With Maureen’s help, he raised three wonderful children, who were his pride and joy, and he lived to meet and know his precious granddaughter, Nora.
Pat was a huge presence in any room, or in any gathering. He was funny, fun loving, with a bold laugh, a hearty manner all supporting a big shock of hair. He was a long-standing member of the Katonah Fire Department since 1987, faithfully serving the community that he loved. He donned his uniform and attended his final Parade on June 4.
The friends he made were life long, many of whom were able to be by his side in his final days. If he loved you, and he probably did, he would let you know.
He was a cherished son, a beloved sibling, a great husband and father, and a stalwart friend. He will be sorely missed, but will forever be fondly remembered.
Pat is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Maureen (Connolly); his children Cecilia (Andrew Naumann) of Milwaukee, Muiread and Michael of New York; his granddaughter Nora Naumann, his mother Marie (McGrevey); his siblings, John (Misook) of Queens, Maureen (Jim) Basher of Cornwall, N.Y., Susan (Chris) Vacca of Tarrytown, N.Y. and Michael (Nancy) Heffernan of Eastchester, N.Y and his 10 adored nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father John Heffernan, father in law Michael Connolly and mother in law Margaret Connolly.
