Obituary of Charles Robinson
It is with a profound sense of loss that we notify family and friends of the passing of Charles (“Chuck”) Robinson on Saturday August 2nd, at home, surrounded by his loved ones. Chuck was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Alfred and Rose (nee Springer) on June 10, 1932.
His charm, warmth and grace were evident to anyone who met him, and it was hard to not like him or to remain a stranger. He nurtured and treasured many deep friendships lasting over many decades.
Professionally, Chuck was an educator, earning his Masters of Education from NYU. He began his career teaching business equipment systems to high school students in Laurelton, NY, where he successfully introduced his innovative ‘team teaching’ approach. Wanting to effect change at a higher level, he turned to school administration, where he served as Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Business at Byram Hills School District for 23 years, and as President of the NY State Association of School Business Officials (NYASBO) in the late 1980s. The love and respect from his colleagues remained strong all his life.
Chuck also served in the U.S. Army specializing in strategic communications at the Air Force Base in Newburgh, NY.
Family and friends meant everything to Chuck - he especially loved his time celebrating holidays, especially his favorite: Thanksgiving. Also much loved was Candlewood Lake, his boating and water-skiing playground, and the Marina where he hosted countless gatherings of friends and family.
In his later years, he traveled the world from Europe to Asia to Latin America, discovering and enjoying different cultures, and satisfying his deep sense of adventure.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Anne (nee Zaera), his children, Cara and Todd, their spouses, Brett Bowden and Wendy (nee Christophersen), and his dear grandchildren - Rachel, Leah, Kelly and Jessica.
In the words of two of his closest friends, “There is solace in remembering the small details: the way his eyes sparkled when he told a joke, his unwavering support through the years, and the warmth he brought into every room. These memories are treasures—reminders of a life well lived and well-loved.”
A memorial service will be held at Noon, Wednesday August 6, 2025, at Temple Beth Shalom, 760 Route 6, Mahopac, NY.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made to an organization such as Jewish National Fund-USA, whose primary missions include the planting of trees in the State of Israel, which was Chuck’s favorite way to honor the passing of his friends.»(Do not delete this line.
