Obituary of Andrea Willman
Andrea Lynn Willman (Mark) died Friday, August 15, 2025 at Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT at the age of 82. Andrea had lived in Cape Cod, MA for two years prior to her passing.
Andrea was born January 10, 1943 in Port Chester, NY to the late Courtland and Ida Mark. Her Mark grandparents were the co-owners of the renowned Strand Theatre in Times Square NYC that featured popular vaudeville acts and even premiered Charlie Chaplin silent films before being sold to the Warner Brothers. Andrea grew up in the family home in Gedney Farm in White Plains and then later moved to Pleasantville NY. She attended Briarcliff College, NY and worked for IBM in Armonk in the 1960’s.
Andrea met her beloved husband Peter C. Willman when they both attended Pleasantville High School (NY). Peter and Andrea would both jokingly recount when they first met in school, Peter was one of two captains picking sides in a ball game and opted to go ‘one man down’ instead of picking a very non-interested Andrea as the last selectee. But then they both fell in love when they worked as a camp counselor and a lifeguard during a later summer break.
After marrying, Andrea and Peter settled into their adored Katonah, NY home of 40+ years. Andrea was the consummate homemaker for the family which grew to include son Sean Willman and daughter Courtland Willman. Andrea enjoyed all things early American antiques and held yearly tag sales attended by hundreds of invited buyers and others. She would take painstaking efforts to hand-write tagged descriptions of each piece she sold including what it was or where it could be placed in the home for maximum enjoyment. Thousands of hours were spent in this endeavor and making life-long friends and acquaintances along the way. Andrea also enjoyed wearing her signature jean jumpers and flip flops, her pets, reading, baking, listening to classical music, refinishing furniture, and decorating the family home.
Andrea is pre-deceased by her younger sister Jill Mark and her late husband Peter C. Willman. Andrea is survived by her son Sean Willman of Katonah NY, daughter Courtland Willman Steele of Dennis Port MA, and granddaughter Anna Hoernig of McClean VA.
The family will be celebrating Andrea Willman at a private burial at the family mausoleum in Kensico Cemetery.
