Michael was born in New York on April 14, 1950 to Cornelius and Marcella Greaney. He graduated from Manhattan College with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, and later earned a Master of Science in Education from the City University of New York. He was a dedicated and beloved coach and teacher of health and physical education in Westchester County for nearly five decades. Among other honors, he received the Jenkins Award in Ardsley Public Schools for exceptional service. His kindness and guidance impacted the lives of thousands of students, inspiring them to work hard, persevere in difficult times, and lead healthier lives.
Mike’s Catholic faith was a constant guiding force throughout his life. With a natural green thumb, he enjoyed being outdoors, and took great pride in maintaining his yard and garden. He cared deeply for his dogs and was a sports enthusiast year-round, rooting for the Mets, Knicks, and Giants. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy, and remained dedicated to her for over fifty years. Together, they delighted in raising their loving daughter, Beth. Most of all, Mike will be remembered for his warm, engaging presence and his wonderful sense of humor.
Michael is survived by his wife, Kathleen, and his daughter, Elizabeth, along with countless friends. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Marcia Lelle, Loretta Miller, and Eileen Greaney.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah, NY on November 12, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m.
