Obituary of Jordan Elizabeth Rights
Jordan Elizabeth Rights
Jordan Elizabeth Rights (“Elizabeth”) of Southeast, NY died Saturday, November 22, 2025, in her home.
She was born on July 7, 1992, at Lenox Hill Hospital, NYC to the immense joy of her parents, Nancy S. Rights and D. Michael Rights, who both survive her, and each loved her until her last breath. She was a graduate of The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT and of The University of St. Andrews, St. Andrews, Scotland and was currently pursuing a Master of Science through Clemson University.
She was a researcher, consultant and advocate for and to several programs and projects being conducted under the auspices of Alliance for Rights and Recovery (some in conjunction with the University of Pittsburg), OnTrackNY (primarily programs in conjunction with the Research Foundation, Ford Foundation and Columbia University) and LIFT (sponsored by Long Island Jewish Medical Center). She believed fiercely in the mission of the programs and projects for which she had been employed and much loved the work in which she was directly engaged on their behalf. It was another manifestation of her kindness and tenderness to those who suffer. In college, she took a semester off to stay with her maternal grandmother after the death of her grandfather and then spent countless hours after graduation during ensuing years helping care for that grandmother as she slipped into dementia. During the years her paternal grandmother and great-grandmother lived in the family home, she was as loving and tender to their needs as anyone could imagine. In addition to her research and consulting work, her free-lance contract AI work and her school demands, she worked several hours a week at Aversano’s Restaurant in her hometown. She was happy to be part of the staff there, referring to them (and her regular customers) as her “Aversano’s Family.”
She is survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of her family. She would want them all to know that she loved them deeply. She also is survived by a cadre of friends near Southeast, NY, Danbury, and Stamford, CT. She would want to extend her heartfelt thanks to all for their stalwart friendship.
Services will be held at St. Matthews Church, 382 Cantitoe St, Bedford, NY 10506 on Friday, December 5 at 1:00 PM. She made a public profession accepting Christ as her Savior and was baptized at age seven. She was a gal of prayer but especially so during the last ten days of her life; she had been praying through the daily office offered through the Mission of St. Clare and was looking forward, after her return from South Carolina in January 2026, to connecting more deeply with the community of St. Matthews and engaging in book and Bible studies if and as she was able.
There will be a reception on Friday, December 5 from 2:30 P.M to 4:30 P.M. at Aversano’s Restaurant, 1620 Route 22, Towne Centre, Brewster, NY 10509 for any who can attend. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alliance for Rights and Recovery, either by mail to 194 Washington Ave, Suite 400, Albany, NY 12210 or online at https://rightsandrecovery.org/
