Obituary of David Leichter
David Joseph Leichter, “Rocky” 62, of Peekskill, NY, Died Friday, November 28th, 2025, at Northern Westchester Hospital. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born on March 21st, 1963 to the late Robert and Louise Leichter in the Bronx, NY. He moved to the Somers Hamlet of Shenorock in 1966 where he attended Somers schools. Afterwards, he pursued a career in construction where he would go on to create his own company: DiFigliola & Sons.
He moved to Mohegan Lake, NY in 1999 with his wife and son Corey Leichter, born 1994. He built his home from the ground up, and collected many classic cars along the way. He moved to Peekskill, NY in 2013 where he rebuilt his world.
Rocky loved working on classic cars and attending car shows, collecting antiques and often incorporating them into the structure of his home and garden, enjoying his outdoor ‘oasis,’ his yard, and working out at the gym. Rocky took pride in everything he built and created, he was an artist with an engineering mind. He was tough as nails but with a heart of gold. He would take in anyone in need, help anyone who asked him, He would give the shirt off of his back to help a stranger. He cared deeply about everyone he knew. He was a beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He will be missed dearly.
Rocky is survived by: his son, Corey Leichter and his wife Sam of Danbury, CT; his siblings, Bruce Leichter and his wife Eileen of Carmel, NY, Robert Leichter of Buffalo, NY, Louise Dunnigan and her husband Edward of Wappinger Falls, NY, and Barbara Leichter of Mahopac. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4th from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 5th at 10:00 am at St John the Evangelist RC Church, 225 East Lake Blvd., Mahopac, NY.
