Obituary of Christopher A. Burns

Christopher A. Burns passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on December 18, 2025, in Mount Kisco, NY, at the age of 74.

Chris was born on March 16, 1951, in the Bronx, NY, to Rose Avallone and Walter J. Burns.

A graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School, Chris went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fordham University.

Chris lived life on his own terms. A lifelong outdoorsman, he had a passion for hunting, fishing, and gardening. Despite his rugged pursuits, he was equally fascinated by the modern world, possessing an extraordinary knowledge of the stock market and a keen interest in emerging technologies long before they became commonplace.

As an educator, Chris was unforgettable. Known for his colorful Hawaiian shirts and approachable demeanor, he inspired students and colleagues alike with his warmth, intelligence, and authenticity.

He cherished life’s simplest pleasures. His mornings began with a cup of decaf coffee with his self-named “Bagel Boys,” and he found peace in his small hunting cabin, which to him was a sanctuary.

Above all, Chris was a man of remarkable authenticity, humor, and curiosity, whose life reflected a rare combination of intellect, simplicity, and heart. He is survived by his daughter, Anne, his brother Walter Burns Jr., and by numerous family members, friends, colleagues, and students whose lives he touched.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, December 21st from 12:00 - 4:00PM at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 22nd at 10:00 am at St.Mary Of The Assumption Church,55 Valley Road, Katonah, NY 10536

Interment will be private
