Obituary of Genevieve Decaminada
Genevieve Decaminada, age 88, of Somers, New York, died Friday, December 26, 2025. Genevieve was born on March 27, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, to Rocco Peter and Christina Caputo. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, alongside her four late siblings Elizabeth Cioccia, Ann Jermusyk, Carmela DeName and Joseph Caputo. She married her husband, Joseph Pio Decaminada, on August 30, 1958. They were married for 51 years. They welcomed a son, Joseph Rocco, on June 6, 1959. Genevieve moved to Scarsdale, New York in 1975, where she remained until 2014 when she moved to Somers, New York.
Genevieve kept a strong Catholic faith throughout her life. She attended Mass all over the world but lived most of her spiritual life at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Brooklyn, New York, The Church of Sacred Heart in Hartsdale, New York, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Somers, New York.
Genevieve was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother and a precious friend. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Eileen Susan Decaminada of Goldens Bridge, New York, her grandson Joseph Daniel of Stamford, Connecticut, her granddaughter Amanda R. of Goldens Bridge, New York, as well as her grandson Eric Charles and his wife Rebecca Lynn of Ridgefield, New Jersey. Genevieve’s husband passed away on March 21, 2010. Their only child, Joseph Rocco, passed away on December 25, 2024, and their eldest grandchild, Chelsea Marie, passed away on May 5, 2019.
Friends and family may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, New York on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, New York on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
