Obituary of Grace Longo
Grace E. Longo (Magnotta), 91, of Stamford, Connecticut, formerly a longtime resident of Bedford, New York, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026.
Grace was born on June 1, 1934, in White Plains, New York, to Columbia and Gaetano Magnotta. She attended St. Bernard’s Elementary School and White Plains High School and was a graduate of The Katharine Gibbs School.
In 1956, Grace married Philip G. Longo, Sr. They shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2006. In 1967, they moved to Bedford, New York, where they raised their children and where Grace resided until 2023.
Grace worked for many years in the Chappaqua and Byram Hills School Districts, where she was well known and warmly regarded by everyone in the buildings.
She was deeply devoted to her family; her children and grandchildren meant everything to her and were the center of nearly every conversation. They brought her immeasurable joy.
Grace touched the lives of many through her strong, warm personality and her lifelong friendships. She was an active member of the Hopp Ground Garden Club and participated in numerous clubs at the Bedford Free Library. Grace was also a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Bedford for over 60 years.
Grace is survived by her son, Philip Longo, and his wife, Leila, of Manasquan, New Jersey, formerly of Bedford, New York; and her daughter, Claudia Bainton, and her husband, William, of Riverside, Connecticut. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren: Elizabeth Zied and her husband Brian, Kevin Longo and his wife Sarah, Connor Longo, and Brian Longo.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Church, Bedford, New York.at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, NY
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bedford Free Library, 32 Village Green, Bedford, NY 10506
