Obituary of Louis George Pepe
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis George Pepe, who departed this life on December 18, 2025, at the age of 90 years plus 4 days. Lou was born December 14, 1935, in Long Island City, New York to Louis and Angelina Pepe.
The youngest of three children, Lou was proud to be the first in his family to earn a 4-year college degree. He attended night school to receive his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Pace University in 1964 and a Certificate in Finance Management from NYU in 1972. In addition, Lou served his country as a Motor Sergeant, New York Army National Guard 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division from 1954-1963.
Always smartly dressed in a suit and tie, Lou enjoyed a successful career in the advertising business, selling ad space for venerable brands including U.S. News & World Report, The Reporter and Holiday Magazine. He held key roles at Times-Mirror and Hearst Magazines before becoming co-partner of Media People, Inc., with his childhood friend Ed Kabakow.
On September 8, 1962, Lou married Theresa D’Elia after falling for her at a dance and courting her with frequent trips across the bridge from Queens to New Rochelle. Over the course of their 63-year marriage they hosted many parties and lobster fests. Lou and Teri travelled the world and loved spending winters on Marco Island and summer weekends with friends and family on their boat on Candlewood Lake.
Lou was an avid tennis player who belonged to the NY Athletic Club and the Beach & Tennis Club. He served on the board of Dream Come True of Western CT and was able to bring happiness to deserving children. His outgoing, open and friendly nature transformed everyone he met into a friend in no time.
Lou is survived by Theresa as well as his son Ronald, his wife Nan and grandson Wyatt, and his son Gregory, his wife Beth and grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra and William. Lou loved his grandkids more than anything and was a constant smiling presence at their sporting events, concerts, school occasions and recitals. He could always be counted on to have everyone’s favorite flavor of ice cream ready.
Lou’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
