Obituary of George M. Donahue

George M. Donahue, 82, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died on January 9, 2026.

 

George was born on January 14th, 1943, in New York to the late George R. and Margaret Donahue.  He was a graduate of St. Francis College and Brooklyn Law School.  He worked for more than 30 years as an Assistant District Attorney in New York.

 

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his children Michael, Mary, John and Megan, his granddaughter Siena, his sister Elizabeth, brother-in-law Eddie, and sisters-in-law Anne and Lourdes, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carmen, and his daughter, Kat, as well as his sisters Anne and Mary Jane, and brother John. 

 

George dedicated his life to public service, following in his father’s footsteps through his work with the Association of Catholic Trade Unionists and spending more than 30 years as an Assistant District Attorney in New York. He was known for his classic jokes and his love of a hearty debate.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 31st, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2805 Fort Hamilton Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11218, followed by a reception with the family (address will be provided at the Mass.).
