Obituary of Lawrence Michael Doyle

Lawrence Michael Doyle, born May 7, 1941 in the Bronx, died on February 4, 2026.  He was a devoted husband to Catherine (Moynihan) for 59 years; and loving father to daughters Mary Margaret (Dennis), Rosemary (Phil), Cathleen (Joe), and Anne (James); and grandchildren Emma Rose & Declan, Finola & Molly, Lucia & Rosanna, and Robbie.  He was loyal to countless friends and family members.

Lawrence was steadfast in his faith, a beacon guiding all of his relationships and endeavors, and, in turn, a beacon to all who knew him. A long-time resident of Purdy’s, NY and parishioner of Saint Joseph’s in Croton Falls and Somers, Lawrence served as a Eucharistic minister, bingo volunteer, member of the Knights of Columbus, North Salem Ambulance Corps volunteer, parent advisory board member at John F. Kennedy High School (Kennedy Catholic), board member of multiple charities, volunteer at Rosary Hill Hospice in Hawthorne, NY, and an all-around engaged member of the community.

Lawrence was a proud alumnus of St. Luke’s Grammar School, Cardinal Hayes High School, Iona College, Fordham University School of Social Work, and Fairfield University with advanced degrees in social work and school administration.

Lawrence was seen donning the caps of many other schools as an enthusiastic cheerleader for his children and grandchildren. A fierce advocate for children and families facing challenges, Lawrence worked for many years in the Stamford, CT Public Schools, retiring as Director of Pupil Personnel Services and then continuing his vocation in several other capacities. He also served with Catholic Charities in White Plains, NY and the Sisters of Divine Compassion Counseling Services. Lawrence had the heart of an artist, and his creativity lives on in many beautiful paintings and craftworks gracing homes and public spaces.

Lawrence was pre-deceased by his parents John and Margaret and his brother John.
