Obituary of Deborah O. Ramsey

Deborah O. Ramsey of Croton-on-Hudson, NY passed from this life on February 1, 2026, having spent her last month in hospice care at Calvary Hospital.

Debbie was born to Jeannette (Foster) and William C. Osborne in Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 10, 1953. She was a loving wife to Robert and a wonderful mother to their sons Logan, Tristan, and Brennan.

Debbie’s family moved to Huntington, Long Island in 1963, where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of North Carolina and later graduated from Stony Brook University with degrees in English and Journalism. Debbie and Rob met while working together at Underwriter’s Laboratories in Melville, Long Island, and were married in 1978.

They moved back to Huntington in 1980 where their family grew to include three sons, Alaskan Malamutes, Irish Wolfhounds, and rescues of all kinds. She taught Sunday School at St. John’s Episcopal Church for 25 years and was a member of the choir. During that time, she was invited to join the Huntington Choral Society, a well-regarded vocal group of over one hundred members. She sang with them until 2006 when their family moved to Croton-on-Hudson. There, Debbie became a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church where she once again became a dedicated member of the choir. Her church participation expanded to include the Altar Guild and becoming a Lay Eucharist minister.

It was soon after moving that Debbie re-discovered her love of biking. As an enthusiastic member of the Westchester Cycle Club, she led numerous rides, taught bike safety to kids of all ages, and was a passionate spokesperson for the many benefits and joys of biking. Her Halloween rides were legendary, with up to 100 members participating annually.

Volunteering was second nature to Debbie, and she participated in many church and community activities. She had a strong commitment to the Westchester Meals on Wheels program, where she delivered food to the elderly. For many, the time she spent with them was the highlight of their week.

Our Debbie was a truly special person. Always happy, with a positive, helpful outlook and a wonderful smile. She was a stalwart source of support, compassion, and understanding for countless people throughout her life. Her love knew no bounds.

She will be greatly missed.
