Obituary of Virginia Karczmit

Karczmit, Virginia A. “Ginny”
January 3, 1943 – February 15, 2026

Virginia A. “Ginny” Karczmit, 83, of Briarcliff Manor, formerly of Thornwood, died peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Calvary Hospital.

Ginny was born on January 3, 1943, in Yonkers to the late Vincent and Elizabeth Sansverie. She attended Berkeley College, a specialized secretarial school, where she earned her associate’s degree.

Ginny began her professional life as a reading teacher in the Mount Pleasant elementary schools, where she dedicated herself to helping young students build confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

After the passing of her beloved husband, Jerry, in 1985, Ginny demonstrated remarkable strength and determination by taking over the family business, K Carton, Inc.. She ran the business for 16 years, all while raising her three daughters with unwavering love and guidance.

She was married to the love of her life, Jerry, until his passing, and together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and devotion. Ginny was a fiercely independent woman—reliable, resilient, and gifted with a wonderful sense of humor that carried her through life’s joys and challenges alike.

Ginny found great happiness in gardening and had a special love for flowers. She worked in the back office at Rosedale Nurseries and took pride in keeping beautiful flower baskets blooming on her deck.

An avid reader, she cherished quiet moments with a good book and found peace relaxing in the sun or spending time at the beach.

She was a talented cook and baker, famous for generously sharing her homemade treats with friends and neighbors. Christmas cookie baking was a treasured tradition and remains a favorite memory for her family—a reflection of the love she poured into everything she did.

Ginny is survived by her three daughters, Michelle, Lisa (Jonathan), and Nicole (James) and four beloved grandchildren—Abigail, Samantha, Quinn and Nate—who were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, her independence, and most of all, her unforgettable laugh, which her family and friends will miss dearly.

Her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the beauty she cultivated, and the love she gave.Ginny’s family will receive friends on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home,  4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.
