Obituary of Ilona J. Luhman

Ilona J., “Nona”, Luhman, 86, of Katonah, NY passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Northern Westchester Hospital, in her sleep.

Nona was born on January 12, 1940, in Mount Kisco at Northern Westchester Hospital, to the late Santino Henry Gervasini and Helen Ilona Forare. Nona worked for the Town of Bedford as their head bookkeeper for 30 years until she retired to her home. Nona was a resident of Katonah for 56 years. Nona volunteered at the Katonah Thrift Shop for 25 years. Nona had a passion for gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family at the beach. There hasn't been a summer in over fifteen years where she wasn't enjoying the warm sun and salty breeze in her beach chair, watching her family.

Nona is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth D. Luhman, of Katonah, her son, Kenneth D. Luhman, Jr. (Tracie), of Wingdale, NY and her daughter, Kristin Schwab (Lawrence), of Wilton, NH. Nona is a devoted grandmother to Nadine Wahl of Norwalk, CT, Thomas Luhman (Charity) of Wingdale, NY, Melissa Luhman of Bridgeport, CT, Ashley Baize (Chad) of Robinson, TX, Allyson Schwab of New Castle, DE, Jack Schwab of Wilton, NH and Sydney Luhman of Wingdale, NY. Nona is also a devoted great-grandmother to Kyle and Gavin Luhman of Wingdale, NY, Dylan and Melanie Martinez of Bridgeport, CT, and Wilder and Layla Baize of Robinson, TX. Nona is also survived by her sister Nancy Culper of Haddon Township, NJ, along with her brother in law Wallace E. Luhman (Martha) of Bedford Hills, NY.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 3:00 pm at The Katonah Memorial House, 71 Bedford Rd, Katonah, NY.
