Obituary of Thomas A.J. Rocchio

Thomas A.J. Rocchio, 93, of Bedford Hills, NY, died on May 2, 2026. Thomas was born to Thomas A.J. and Bettina Rocchio on November 3, 1932 in New York City and raised above Rocchio’s Rexall in the Bronx run by his father.

Thomas graduated from Fordham Preparatory School and Utah State University. He served the U.S. Army in Greenland during the Korean War.

Thomas married his favorite dance partner and the biggest fan of his jokes, Joanne Ghiradella, in 1963 and they raised three sons in Westchester County. He enjoyed Rotary Club, Lions Club, community theatre, and serving as an election poll worker.

Thomas is preceded in death by his treasured sister Betty and beloved son David. He is immediately survived by his wife of 63 years, sons Paul C. (Julie) Rocchio of Alexandria, VA and Matthew L. (Susan) Rocchio of Cross River, NY. “Poppy” was adored by his grandchildren Zoe, Lucy, Max and Margaret who he delighted in and admired. Poppy was clever, funny and always optimistic
