Obituary of Barbara Jane Sullivan

Barbara Jane Sullivan (née Pacchiana), of Hillsboro Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at the age of 90. Modern, independent, and ahead of her time, Barbara successfully led three businesses and traveled the world, all while raising two children in Chappaqua, N.Y., as a devoted single mother.

Born to Guido and Marie Pacchiana (née Mirabelli), Barbara grew up in Mount Vernon, where she excelled both academically and athletically, lettering in multiple sports at A.B. Davis High School. At a time when few Italian-American women pursued higher education, she attended Purdue University before later earning her Bachelor of Science degree in business from New York University School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance.

Barbara began her career in the fashion industry before joining and eventually leading the family businesses, including Grandview Agency, Stacon Company, and Royal Realty Company. She was admired for her determination, intelligence, and strong sense of independence.

Barbara embraced life fully, especially her love of Italian culture, cuisine, travel, and lively conversation. She had a sharp wit, a generous spirit, and never shied away from a spirited debate. She touched many lives through her warmth, strength, and unmistakable personality.

She is survived by her daughter, Cristina Sullivan Magidson, and her husband, James; her son, Patrick Sullivan, and his wife, Dawn; one granddaughter, Alexandra; and five grandsons: Brendan and Owen Sullivan, and Ryan, Matthew, and Jack Magidson. She is also survived by her brother, George Pacchiana of Briarcliff Manor, and her sister, Elaine Cunnane of Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church in Bedford.

Burial will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

The family will gather with relatives and friends for a reception following the burial.
