Obituary of Douglas Maine

Douglas “Doug” Maine, 77, passed away on June 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

 

Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, in 1948 to John and Kathern Maine, Doug lived a life marked by generosity, intellectual curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to family, friends, and community.

 

Throughout a distinguished career, Doug held senior leadership positions at MCI, IBM, and Brown Brothers Harriman. He was widely respected for his financial expertise, strategic insight, integrity, and gift for mentoring others. Whether guiding organizations or advising individuals, he generously shared his knowledge and experience, always seeking to help others grow and succeed.

 

Doug was a passionate supporter of the arts and higher education. He served on the boards of several organizations, including the Bedford Playhouse, and co-produced six Broadway productions, reflecting his lifelong love of theater and culture. He also remained deeply connected to education and athletics, serving on the Dean’s Advisory Boards of the business schools at Temple University and Hofstra University, and as an Executive in Residence at Columbia Business School.

 

Above all, Doug was devoted to his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 54 years, Fran Maine; his children, Alison (Matthew Hodgman) and Steven; and his cherished granddaughter, Lyla.

 

Doug will be remembered for his wisdom, humility, kindness, and steadfast belief in the potential of others. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the many people he mentored, and the communities and institutions he helped strengthen.

 

A funeral service will be held on June 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home located at 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. The Services will be live-streamed on Zoom, you may click this link to join. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Doug’s life.
