Obituary of Richard A. Roth

 Richard A. “Rich” Roth, 91, of Somers, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Lois, with whom he shared 69 beautiful years of marriage and a lifetime of love. Together, they built a family that was the heart of Rich’s life and his greatest source of pride and joy.

Rich was a devoted father to Glenn (Patty), Tim (Dana) and Robin (Rich), and a loving grandfather to Taylor, Emily, Jackson and Georgia, who knew him affectionately as “Poppy.” He cherished his family deeply and found his greatest happiness in the life they shared together. He is also survived by his brother, Bob, and was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis.

Born on August 4, 1934, in Queens, New York, to Anthony and Evelyn (Fairbrother) Roth, Rich grew up in Pleasantville, where his love of baseball began early. A talented pitcher, he excelled on his high school team and later signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds, spending time in their farm system. After returning home, he met Lois, the love of his life. They were married on November 20, 1955, and together began a life rooted in devotion, hard work, laughter and family.

Rich and Lois first made their home in Chappaqua before settling in Somers, where they raised their children and created a home filled with warmth, humor and lasting memories. In the 1970s, they owned the Greeley Delicatessen in Chappaqua, a special chapter in their lives that reflected their partnership, hard work and connection to the community.

Rich had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease. He loved sharing stories from his baseball days, his years at the deli and the many moments that shaped his life, always with wit, warmth and a twinkle in his eye. He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor and the genuine way he connected with others. More than anything, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend whose presence made life brighter for so many and brought comfort, joy and love to those around him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. His family will carry his love with them always, finding comfort in the memories they shared and in the example he set through a life so fully centered on love, family and connection.
