Obituary of Richard H. Brahs

Richard H. Brahs “Dick” of Heritage Hills, Somers, formerly of Ridgewood, Queens passed away on Wednesday, August 5 at Northern Westchester Hospital at the age of 101. 

Richard was born May 2, 1925, in Queens, New York.  His family moved to Mt. Vernon, when he was sixteen.  There he graduated from A.B. Davis High School and was promptly drafted into the army and inducted into the Military Police.

Christmas 1945 Richard was honorably discharged and married long time sweetheart Nancy.  He then began a long successful career in the automobile industry.   After working in several executive roles for Chrysler, he found the opportunity to purchase his own car dealerships.  His first of which was a Dodge dealership in White Plains.  After dissolving his partnership in 1978, he set up his own dealership in Stamford, Connecticut and Armenia, New York- this young mans dream came true!  In 1990 at 65 he retired.

In 2018 after the death of his wife of 73 years, Richard moved to Heritage Hills.  There he was surrounded by three grown children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed trading stocks, reading, and relaxing with his favorite cocktail, “the stinger.”
