Obituary of Francis J. Wilson

Francis “Frank” J. Wilson of Somers, New York passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 with his family at his side.  He died from complications from cancer.

Frank was born in the Bronx, New York to Edward and Theresa Wilson on January 12, 1955.  He grew up in a lively Catholic home with his siblings Edward Jr., James, Kevin, Charles, Dennis, Thomas, and Elizabeth.  Frank enjoyed playing basketball with his siblings and was a star athlete.

Frank was a lifelong learner with an encyclopedic memory.  He obtained a Masters Degree in Social Work from the College of New Rochelle and holds many other degrees and certificates.  He selflessly dedicated himself to public service, helping marginalized New Yorkers for over forty years.

Frank met his wife Lina Adamo at age twenty-five and quickly fell in love with both her and her large Italian family.  He was devoted to Lina, his daughter Annamarie Nardi and son-in-law Vincent Nardi, and his granddaughters Marissa and Amanda Nardi.  Frank always showered them with kindness, love, wisdom, and humor.

Frank’s family and friends fondly referred to him as both the “Dog Whisperer” and “Saint Francis of Assisi” because of his love of animals.  He cared for and rescued many dogs, cats, birds, and even baby chickens throughout his lifetime.  He most recently cared for his family dogs Bubbles, Skip, and Chip.

Frank lived a happy life, taking joy in the simple pleasures of each day and sharing compassion with each person he crossed paths with.  Frank will be forever in our hearts.

His family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 3rd from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 4th at 11:15 am at St. Patrick's RC Church, Yorktown,137 Moseman Road, Yorktown Heights.

Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society: www.cancer.org, or the ASPCA: www.aspca.org/nyc would be appreciated.
