Obituary of Mary McEntegart Welch

Mary McEntegart Welch, 92, of New Paltz, New York, passed away in hospice in her daughter’s home in Katonah, New York, on June 2. Mary was born on January 28, 1928, in Manhattan and raised in Great Neck, New York. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle.

She married Thomas Welch in 1954 and spent her married years in Baldwin, New York. She earned a masters in teaching and taught the primary grades at St. Bernard’s School in Levittown, NY, a job she loved. After retiring, she moved with her sisters to Westchester County, before moving to Ulster County.

She is survived by her sister Kathleen McEntegart; her daughter, Mary Chris Welch and son-in-law, Dan Cullen; her granddaughters Nora Cullen (and her wife Amanda Loring) and Gwenyth Cullen (and her partner Joshua Davitz). She was predeceased by her husband,Thomas Welch, and her sister Eileen McEntegart.

A funeral mass will be held when social distancing restrictions make it possible. Mary was a beautiful presence in our lives which we will carry with us always.
