Obituary of Evelyn Russell

Russell, Evelyn L. died Sunday October 18^th, 2020. Born May 15, 1933 in Mt Kisco at Northern Westchester Hospital where she ultimately passed away, Evelyn was the only child of Cyrus and Hazel Zarr Russell. She resided and lived independently in the family home in Cross River until 2018. Evelyn’s father, Cyrus Russell, was Lewisboro Town Clerk for two decades and served four terms as Lewisboro Town Supervisor. Evelyn was the keeper of the Russell-Zarr family history with her incredible memory for people and events and she loved to share this knowledge. 

She was an active member of the Lewisboro Senior group and rode the Seniors’ bus with her friends to weekly activities and shopping sprees.

Evelyn had a deep commitment to the Cross River Baptist Church founded by her ancestors in 1789. She played both the piano and the organ for the Sunday services at the church, just a short walk from her home. She also was a volunteer pianist at the Waterview Nursing Home for several years. She spent countless hours knitting and doing embroidery to keep her hands busy, and she enjoyed baking cookies for her friends. 

She is survived by her two first cousins, Charles Moore of Arizona and Virginia Hill of Kentucky. Evelyn will be sorely missed by all.

Internment and Eulogy will be held on Saturday October 24^th at 11;30 AM at the Bedford Union Cemetery, located on Clinton Road, Bedford NY
