Obituary of Donald R. Fahje

Donald R. Fahje, 82, a 21 year resident of Somers, NY, died on August 15, 2021 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home, Brewster, NY.

Donald was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 1, 1938 to Helen and Reginald Fahje

He graduated from St. Leonard’s High School and received degrees from NYU and John Jay College.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1964.

Donald had a 29 year career with the NYC Department of Sanitation and rose to office of District Superintendent.

Donald is survived by his wife of 28 years: Barbara A. Murphy-Fahje, his sister: Harriet Messner and her husband Bill, and his sister-in-law: Eileen Carpenter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donald will be remembered as a great storyteller at family gatherings and for the way he doted on his wife.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on August 19, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY.

Interment followed at St. John's Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, NY 11379.
