Obituary of Barbara G. Gibson

Barbara Graham Gibson, passed away peacefully at her home on May 4, 2023 in her 91st year surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Mt. Kisco on December 5, 1931 to George and Irene Graham, the middle child of three.  She grew up in Mt. Kisco and attended St Francis Elementary School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Katonah in 1949.  After graduation from St. Mary’s, she attended and graduated from the Wood Business School in Manhattan.

Barbara met her the love of her life, Robert H. Gibson, in Mt. Kisco and they were married at St. Francis Church in 1952. Together they raised five children in their home in Bedford Hills.  She later resumed her business career in 1973 working at the Research Institute of America in Mt. Kisco for 20 years.  After retiring from the Research Institute, she worked for several years as a school bus monitor in the Bedford School District.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family.  Her home was the hub of family activity for 70 years.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Robert H. Gibson, her parents George and Irene Graham and by her sister Patricia Curtis.  She is survived by her brother George Graham (Susan); and by her children, Joanne Fava (Stephen) of Maine, Patricia Newman (Thomas) Somers, NY, Nancy Asaro (Richard) Mt. Kisco, NY, Robert Gibson (Debra) Pawling, NY  and Laura Gibson, Bedford Hills, NY.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Michael Newman, Matthew Newman, Richard Asaro, Ryan Asaro, Marielle Fava, Alyssa Gibson and Brett Gibson; and six great-grandchildren, Solene, Iris, Madeline, Emily, Maeve, and Eric.

Family will receive friends at Clark Associates Funereal Home in Katonah on Monday, May 8th, from 4 PM  to 7PM.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary of the Assumption Church, Katonah, NY on Tuesday, May 9th at 11 AM.  

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Katonah/Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corp or the Bedford Hills Fire Department.
