After school we would sometimes play wiffle ball in Steger's front yard. The Steger's had this big Viburnum Snowball bush in the front yard. I think it was Troy, and maybe Mike and I playing wiffle ball when suddenly a bumble bee happened to get too close to the bat. The sound it made was like hitting a pebble and the bee flew 30ish feet. Well like stupid kids we thought it was funny and proceeded to whack at the bumble bees flying around the big "snowball" flowers. One thing led to another and by the time we were done the were very few "snowballs" left on the bush and it looked like it snowed in the yard. Let's just say it was a couple of days before we saw each other again.

When Troy and I were kids we had BB guns. We went to the pond above the Steger's house at the dead end and shot a dozen or so bull frogs. When we got back to the Steger's, Mrs. Steger asked what we were up to and we told her. She gave us a 5 gallon bucket and told us to go get the dead frogs. When we got back she showed us how to clean one and Troy and I did the rest. Then she fried them up in butter and we had a little snack. If we killed them we had to eat them, and we did. We never did shoot the frogs again, not that they didn't taste good, we just learned that there was plenty of food in the refrigerator and there was no need to kill the frogs.
