Obituary of Peter J. Senatore

Peter J. Senatore (96) of Armonk, NY, formerly of Pound Ridge, NY, died peacefully at his home on Monday, July 8th, 2024.

He was born on October 3, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Angeline (Gullo) and Joseph Senatore. Peter was a veteran of World War II and served as a Second Lt. in the 1-101st Army Artillery.

A graduate of Brooklyn Polytech, Peter received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He received his Masters Degree in Chemistry from Adelphi University, followed by a Professional Engineer license in Civil Engineering at the age of 72.  He was employed by Pfizer Inc. for 35 years. He then worked for Huff Engineering post retirement on a project for the Town of Babylon for 8 years.

Peter is the beloved husband of Marian (nee Vetter). They celebrated 71 years together last week on July 4. He is the loving father of Peter Jr. M.D.(Janice) of Glassboro, NJ and Norwell, MA, Jean (Bob) Zimmel of Shrub Oak, NY and Leland, NC and Carolyn (Rob) Kingston of Stamford, Ct. He is the devoted grandfather to Marissa (Eric) Tellekamp, Peter J Senatore III (Claire), Robert Zimmel, Rob Senatore, Faith Zimmel, John (Jack) Kingston, Emily Senatore, Matthew Kingston and Ryan Kingston and the proud great grandfather to John Tellekamp, James Tellekamp and Rosemarie (Rosie) Senatore.

He is the brother of Betty Cuccurullo and was predeceased by his sister MaryAnn Senatore. He is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Peter had a long record of service over his 96-½ years.  He served as the Commodore of West Oak Recreation Club in Oakdale, NY, President and Trustee of the Baldwin Board of Education, Grand Knight of the Sisqua Council 1852 of the Knights of Columbus, Commander of Post 136 of the American Legion, President of Rock Rim Ponds Homeowners Association, a Member of the St. Patrick’s Men's Ministry and Member of the Pound Ridge Water Commission for over 15 years. He was truly a man who loved to serve his community.

Peter’s legendary baked clams, linguini and clam sauce and homemade cannolis were always a part of family celebrations. He was happiest when the house was filled with his family.

Peter will always be remembered for his larger than life personality, his always welcoming manner and his devotion to his God, his country and his family. He is a true example of a life well lived.

The family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Montrose & Castle Point, NY for their support over the years, and the staff and aides at The Bristal in Armonk for their loving care.
