Obituary of Andrew McAleer

Andrew McAleer of Somers, NY, passed away peacefully on Oct. 4 at home in the arms of his beloved. At the age of 65, he succumbed to the cancer which he courageously fought for over a decade. Andy was born in Mt. Vernon on Dec. 2, 1958, to William and Barbara McAleer.

After graduating Mahopac H.S., he worked in construction, became a master electrician and operated his own business for over 40 years.

Andrew is survived by the love of his life of 32 years, Beatrice (Ardohain), their son Sean, daughter-in-law Christen, cherished granddaughter Piper, his brother William, sister Elizabeth, Aunt Jackie, mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his parents and his sister Mary Kittrick.

Andy was a great man and respected not only for the quality of his work, but also for his honesty and genuine kindness. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. Andy and Beatrice loved spending time out on L.I. Sound and Montauk with family and friends. He took pride and joy in being part of an incredible group of parents that were integral in the growth of Iona Prep’s crew team, of which his son was a member.

In the last few years, his precious granddaughter has been the glow in his heart. He is missed by so many - we are shattered to lose him.

Visitation will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 4 - 8pm.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 10am at St. Patrick R.C. Church, Bedford, NY.

In lieu of flowers, PLEASE sign up to donate blood at NYBC.org.donor/schedules (very quick and easy to do). Blood transfusions gave us months of extra time with our beloved Andy.

A monetary donation can also be made to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco. Their team took such great care of him.
