Obituary of Rose M. Carlino
Rose M. Carlino, was 93 years old when she died on Thursday, November 28 in Lake Placid, New York.
For the past 13 years she lived in a nursing home, near her daughter Sarina, who was her primary caregiver after Rose’s husband died in 2016. Sarina retired in 2016 and was able to be there for Rose until the day she died.
Prior to moving to Lake Placid, Rose lived in Heritage Hills in Somers, NY with her husband Sarino.
She loved her home in Heritage Hills. She particularly relished the numerous family gatherings there. She was a phenomenal cook, and everyone loved to eat at her house. She was especially celebrated for her meatballs and spinach pies which her children continued to strive to prepare like she did.
Her faith was a large part of her life, and she attended Catholic Mass virtually every day.
At the time of her husband’s death, they had been married for 62 years.
Sarino and Rose met as kids growing up in the same Italian American neighborhood in upper Manhattan. Rose’s brother and her husband Sarino were best friends.
Rose was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. She appreciated her children for who they were and never demanded anything more than they were able to give.
Her children and grandchildren remember Rose as always being there for them, and always willing to support them when they needed her most.
Rose is survived by her six children: Sarina Nicola (David), Bernadette Rabb (Jim), Louis Carlino (Raquel Habib), Steven Carlino, Nancy Loughran (Peter), Susan Gasparini, and 9 grandchildren: Cheryl Reinert (Ryan), Megan Rabb, Christine Zeiger (John), Jessica Loughran, Jackie Loughran, Daniel Loughran, Ben Nicola, Katie Gasparini, and Matthew Gasparini, and four great grandchildren: Emma, Layla, Ryan, and Matthew.
The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 920 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, NY 10605 on Tuesday, December 10 at 11am.
Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Avenue in Hawthorne, NY.
