Joe D was one of the managers at AIG in the Claims Department. I was an Office Service Supervisor. When I met Joe he was always nice and pleasant and we always had pleasant conversations. Whenever he had any technical issues he would call me before calling the help desk. My deepest condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.

To Joe"s family, sincere condolences. I'm a lawyer in California. I worked on matters with "Joey D!," as I lovingly called him, for many years. I heard so many wonderful family stories from him that I almost felt as if I had visited his father's boarding house out west as the miners came home and took their Mercury covered shoes off. Every interaction with him, even when our client's interests may have differed, was always a professional and personal Joy. I loved him very much. To the Decaminada Family, I am very sorry to hear about Joe’s passing. I knew Joe when I worked at AIG and will never forget his kindness toward me. Joe had an excellent reputation in the claims department at AIG and always made time to answer questions without ever making a person feel like they were a burden. He was well educated and carried himself like a true professional. Joe and I were generations apart but hit it off instantly as we shared the same upbringing. I would enjoy listening to his childhood stories as a Brooklyn Native myself. We would talk how neighborhoods changed and how we wish we could go back in time when things were simple and Brooklyn wasn’t trendy. His personality was larger than life and his family was his world. He would talk about his children and I remember the heartache he experienced (as well as the rest of his family) when he lost Chelsea. You do not find many people like Joe in this world. God reunited Joe with Chelsea on Christmas Day. May they both rest in eternal peace. Maria DiCostanzo

Please accept my deepest condolences on Joe D’s passing. I am very sorry to hear this news. I worked with him for many years at AIG. Joe was a kind and nurturing mentor to all the young attorneys who joined the D&O dept. Not only was he a great colleague, but Joe also was a good friend and great human being to everyone he encountered. I always enjoyed talking with Joe about the Yankees and sharing stories about our children. His love for his children always shined through those stories. May he rest in peace, and I hope that the happy memories provide Joe’s family with comfort at this difficult time.

I have known Joe through our children who attended John Jay Schools together. More recently, Joe joined the Lewisboro Senior group that meets every Wednesday. He was our greeter, hanging up everyone’s coats and handing out the name tags. He wanted to help in any way possible always saying “We are all family”. This Senior Director and the Lewisboro Senior family are going to miss this special man. ❤️ Pam Veith

Joe was absolutely one of the funniest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was a prankster who made phony phone calls to me and who stuck the “paid” stickers from one of our lunch haunts, Zeytuna, on the back of my shirt. And he did it because we were so close. We had fun together making two other guys in the claim department believe that we spent every Super Bowl Sunday together. But aside from being funny he was heartfelt and kind and would help out anyone in need. He will be missed. I met him for lunch a while back after both of us retired and I will cherish that moment. I will miss him forever.

Joe was one of the nicest men I’ve ever met in the insurance industry! He was always cheerful with a kind heart. He always took time to stop by my office for a quick hello! I smile to myself when I think of him meeting me at the Crestwood train station…in the rain…on a SATURDAY…to bring me fresh spinach pasta from Arthur Avenue!
