Obituary of Martha Lowenfeld

Lowenfeld, Martha “Marti,” of Somers, NY, formerly of the Bronx, NY, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at Complete Care at Green Knoll in Bridgewater, NJ. She was born on February 18, 1942, in the Bronx to the late Frank and Etta (Begelman) Lowenfeld.

Marti was a graduate of the National College of Education in Chicago and later earned her Masters of Art at George Washington University. Her career started as a grade school teacher and she spoke fondly of her students from those days. She spent time as a flight attendant with Pan Am, enjoying the opportunity to see the world during the “Golden Age of Air Travel.” Marti also joined the Tom Dooley Foundation to provide medical care to people in the Third World, spending time in Southeast Asia, falling in love with the cultures and its people. Eventually, she settled in Somers, NY, becoming a realtor where she found her stride, spending decades in the industry. She was often a top agent and built countless relationships with her knack for learning facts about people. Marti had only retired this previous summer and embraced the time it gave her to finally do things she had been talking about for years.

Marti was a devoted “Grantie” to her beloved great-nephews, Jacob Weber, Ethan Weber, and Nolan Weber, from Watchung, NJ. Her “bestest boys,” as she always called them, were the most delicious part of her life. She dedicated herself to being there for them, constantly making the drive from NY to NJ to spend time as they grew up. She is also survived by her brother Charles Lowenfeld, of Stamford, CT; her sister, Hazel Rudich, of Boca Raton, FL; and her niece, Rebecca Weber Cohen, of Far Hills, NJ.

A memorial visitation will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah, NY, on Friday, January 10 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m.
