Orsolina Maria Caligiuri

Orsolina Maria Caligiuri, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Armonk, New York.

Born on January 12, 1932, in Celico, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy, Orsolina was the beloved daughter of the late Rosa and Ippolito Caruso. In 1957, she emigrated with her family to Cabramatta, Australia, and later to the Bronx, New York, in 1971.

Orsolina was the devoted wife of the late Luigi Caligiuri. She leaves behind her loving children, Mario (Susan) of Somers, NY; Antonio (Denise) of Harrison, NY; and Teresa (Giovanni) of Pleasantville, NY. She was a cherished grandmother to Gino, Anthony (Paulina), Mario V. (Eliza), Victoria, Angelique, Gregory (Amy), Mark, John, and Bella, and a proud great-grandmother to Alessandra. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Orsolina was a caring sister to Nina Riccio, Sister-in-law to the late Angelo Riccio and was predeceased by her brothers Frank, Antonio, and Agostino Caruso. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Patricia and Delia Caruso.

A woman of extraordinary resilience and dedication, Orsolina worked tirelessly to build a better life for her family. She held various roles over the years, including factory work, sewing, and as the proud owner and operator of Luigi’s Pizzeria in Riverdale, NY. Her unwavering work ethic and deep love for her family will forever be remembered.

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 21st from 2:00 - 6:00pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 22nd at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's RC Church,95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY 10589.

Interment will follow at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, (www.stjude.org) an organization close to Orsolina’s heart.
