Obituary of Alice Lythgoe Croft

Alice Lythgoe Croft 1928-2016 Alice L. Croft, age 87, of Goldens Bridge, NY passed away on March 28 in Brewster, NY. Alice Veronica Lythgoe was born April 26, 1928 in New York City and grew up in Queens Village. She graduated high school from the Mary Louis Academy, NY and went on to attain her Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore. She attained her Masters in Art Education degree from Columbia University, in New York City. She married Robert S Croft in 1957, and moved to Bedford, NY and then Pound Ridge, NY where they raised three children. Alice worked as an art teacher for 25 years at Roaring Brook Elementary School, Chappaqua, NY. She retired to Solebury, PA in 1986 and became active as a volunteer with the Village Improvement Association and their community projects, including Bucks County Designer House. Alice also served on the Board of Directors of Doylestown Hospital. She was very active in her church, Our Lady of Mt Carmel, Doylestown, PA. Alice is predeceased by her husband Robert Seibert Croft and her oldest son Robert Francis Croft, and survived by her children, Catherine Marie Lopez of Goldens Bridge, NY, and Daniel James Croft of Norcross, Georgia; grandchildren Patrick Samuel O’Brien, Alicia Catherine O’Brien, John Joseph Lopez, Mary Christina Lopez; and a multitude of family and friends. A viewing will be held at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY 10536 (Phone 914-232-3033), Thursday, March 31, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass in thanksgiving for the life of Alice L Croft will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Somers, NY Friday, April 1 at 10 am. Cemetery Service, St Francis in Mt Kisco, NY.
