Obituary of Albert ‘Michael’ D’Amico

Albert ‘Michael’ D’Amico, 86, long time resident of Somers, passed away in his sleep the morning of July 11th 2016. He was born on May 1st 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Italian immigrants Mable Pennise & Dominick D’Amico. Michael’s distinguished Military service included a span in the United States Army as a radio operator, receipt of an Army of Occupation Medal in 1953, followed by an Honorable Discharge in 1959. During the Korean War he was assigned to the 1740 Battery/ 5th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, and also played in the Army’s international baseball league while stationed in Germany. He was invited to tryouts at Yankee Stadium thereafter. D’Amico went on to become an accomplished businessman as the owner of several successful salons in Westchester County, where he met his beloved wife Rebecca. The two married in January 1971 and started a family. He is survived by his wife, his daughter Jessica and her husband Paul Berliner, his son David Damico and his wife Michelle Williams, and his grandchildren Millie & Sammy Berliner. The family will receive friends on July 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 16th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY. Private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to National Parkinsons Foundation www.parkinson.org.
