Obituary of Muriel D. Ten Dyke

Ten Dyke, Muriel JoAnn Drongeson, 84, of Bedford, New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

 

Muriel was born in July 19, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to the late Elmer B. and Esther Drongeson.

 

Muriel graduated from Bloomington High School, and she attended the University of Minnesota. She is the beloved wife of Richard Ten Dyke, with whom she would have celebrated her sixty-second wedding anniversary in June. Muriel is the loving mother of Anne, of Roxboro, North Carolina, Elizabeth, of Ulster Park, New York, and Susan, of Frederick, Maryland. She is the loving grandmother of Madeline, Arielle, and Sophia. Muriel is survived by her sister, Barbara, of Grand Island, New York.

 

Muriel was raised on a farm in Bloomington, Minnesota, where she milked cows and learned to drive a tractor at twelve years of age. Muriel, Richard and their three daughters moved to Bedford in 1964. Muriel became an exceptionally active member in the community. She was a Girl Scout leader, a Founding Member of the Mt. Kisco Concert Association, and a Founding Member of the Westchester Land Trust. Muriel served as President of the Bedford League of Women Voters and was a Member of the Board of the Katonah Library. Passionate about horses, Muriel also served as a Member of the Board of the Bedford Riding Lanes Association

 

Muriel worked for many years as a Sales Associate at Renwick Realty, and she was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 25th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.

The Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 26th at 2:00 pm at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, on the Village Green, Bedford, NY 10506

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Westchester Land Trust, or the Bedford Free Library.
