Obituary of Cynthia Swank

Cynthia Graham Whitman Swank, "Cindy", 56, a long time resident of Bedford, NY, died on Saturday July 28th following complications from her bout with cancer. Cindy was born on August 23rd, 1961 in Bronxville, NY to Aimee D. Whitman and the late Harold Cutler Whitman III. Cindy attended the Rippowam Cisqua School, Bedford, NY, the Dana Hall School, Wellesley, Ma, and then graduated from the University of Vermont receiving her BA in Art History. Cindy founded Swank Interiors and worked as an interior designer for over 20 years in both the Denver and the Bedford areas. She then began a successful real estate career in 2011 working first for Renwick & Winterling and then Ginnel Real Estate, both located in Bedford, NY. However, she always saw her most important job as a mother, and her real passion was raising her four beautiful children. Cindy will be forever remembered for her humor, laughter, smile, positive attitude, ability to brighten everyone's day, and overall love for life. Cindy had a keen interest in renovating houses, spatial design, interior design and antiques. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Bedford Garden Club for over 20 years. Cindy was a long time member of St. Matthew's Church and the Bedford Golf & Tennis Club. She was also active with Westminster School, Simsbury, CT, where three of her children attended.

Cindy is the beloved wife of Mark F. Swank, and the loving mother of Elsie, Mark W., Sam and Georgia. Cindy is also survived by her mother Aimee, her brother Cutler, sister-in-law Libby, her nieces Kate and Adelaide and her nephew Harry.

A celebration of Cindy's life will take place at St. Matthew's Church,382 Cantitoe Street, Bedford, NY on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00am. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave, #5, Norwalk, CT 06851.
