Obituary of Marie T. Pedlow

Marie T. Pedlow, 83 of Cos Cob, CT and a former 45 year resident of Somers, NY, died on September 21, 2018 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx NY. Marie, the daughter of James A. Baranello and Anna (Miranda) Baranello, was born in Brooklyn, NY June 16, 1935. She was the younger sister of John A. Baranello (deceased) and older sister of James J. Baranello and Therese A. (Baranello) Simonetti. She was the wife of Frank X. Pedlow M.D. (deceased) of Somers NY.

Marie grew up in Ozone Park, NY and graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom Academy. She received her nursing degree from Kings County School of Nursing, Brooklyn NY. It was there she met her future husband, a medical student.

Marie had many talents and interests, but first and foremost she was a loving wife and mother. She was devoted to her husband of over 50 years and together they raised 6 children.   As a young mother caring for a growing family she became an accomplished cook, bringing joy to many and many together over the years.  She enjoyed watching the varied activities  of her children and grandchildren, and into her 80s was still carpooling to hockey practice.  She loved the opera, books and travel. She was a 45 year active parishioner at St Joseph's Catholic Church, Somers NY, and served as both a Eucharistic minister and Catechism teacher. Her strong faith and Catholic Worldview guided her throughout life, including during her illness. She believed in the sacredness of life and our duty to help others. She was an example to her family in every way.

In addition to raising a family,  Marie's life outside the home was representative of her energy and abilities. This included working as a nurse, managing her husbands medical practice,  obtaining her real estate license, and starting a greeting card company. Her artistic mind and love of beauty led her to develop her talents in quilting and gardening, and participating in organizations involved in both, through which she met many great friends.

Marie is survived by one daughter, Karen and William O'Hara of New York, NY and five sons; Frank X. Pedlow Jr. M.D. of Boston MA; Gary J. and Carla Pedlow of Greenwich CT; Joseph M. and Laura Pedlow of London, England; Christopher J. and Ingrid Pedlow of Cos Cob CT; and Robert M. and Christin Pedlow of Charlotte NC; and grandchildren: Meaghan, Mikaela, Caroline, Sophia, Colleen, Lucy, George, Charlotte, Harry,  Sarah, Christopher Jr, Daniela Pedlow and Cailin O'Hara and step-grandchildren Megan, Gabriele, and Joseph Lenihan.

The family will receive friends at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10am at St. Joseph's RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY 10589. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Route 202, Somers, NY 10589.
