Obituary of Eleanore Caserta
Caserta, Eleanore, one month from her 99th birthday, entered into God’s eternal rest on November 15, 2018 under the prayerful and compassionate hands of Rosary Hill Home, Hawthorne, NY. Eleanore was born in the Bronx on December 15, 1919 to Lucia and Thomas Leotti during President Woodrow Wilson’s Administration at the end of World War I.
Eleanore was the quintessential wife and mother. She was clearly a member of the Greatest Generation. She drew her strength from her Catholic religion, her relationship with God, her prayer book, and her traditional moral and Catholic values. Her dignified life was devoted to her husband, Tony, her children and her grandchildren. She was a model and inspiration to family and friends and was loved and admired by all.
Although Eleanore was steadfast in her traditional belief, she was curious and intelligent by embracing new ideas and technology, continuously learning well into her ninety’s. She was a terrific ballroom dancer and danced her way through life with class and grace alongside her husband Tony. She cooked delicious, healthy dinners nightly and was especially famous for her meatballs and her biscotti. She will be missed by all, especially for her unsparing wisdom, kindness and generous heart.
Eleanore was predeceased by her cherished husband Tony and loving granddaughter Deborah.
Eleanore is survived by her children: Thomas (Andrea), John (Zena) (Mia), and Ellen (Andy Spiros), her grandchildren: Andrew (Naomi), Kristin (Chris Spilliane), Christine, Emily and Kimberly and five great grandchildren.
A private family visitation is scheduled. Family and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10am at St. Joseph RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Somers, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532
