Obituary of Rosalie Gisolfi

Rosalie Linda Gisolfi of Somers, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the age of 77.  She was the loving daughter of Dominick and Grace (Treppeda) Martines and was predeceased by her brother Vincent in 2017.

Born in Manhattan, NY and raised in White Plains, NY, she graduated St. John’s High School and attended SUNY Potsdam. She married her friend, soulmate and caregiving husband of 55 years, Ernest Edward Gisolfi. Together they raised their family in Silver Lake, NY for 28 years where they lived a joyous life amongst lifelong friends.

Rosalie was the poster child for the modern professional women balancing family and career responsibilities. She was employed by IBM, Manhattanville College, Hitachi America and Aegon Asset Management while maintaining traditional Italian-American family values in the upbringing of her sons. At Manhattanville College she was the anchor of consistency through four Dean of Student Administrations and during this tenure she also earned her Master’s Degree in Art History.

Rosalie is survived by her husband, three children and nine grandchildren: Daniel with wife Brigid and grandchildren Kaitlin, Erin, Daniel and Anthony; Robert with wife Patricia and grandchildren Matthew, Lauren and Rachel; and Eric with wife Jennifer and grandchildren Joseph and Justin.

She was the modern family matriarch who managed four strong minded men using her grace, gentleness, humor and persistence. She taught them how to love and the importance of grounding their lives in the appreciation of art, food and traditional family values. She honed her skills in creating watercolor and oil-pastel paintings, leaving lasting memories of the world and family she loved as seen through her eyes.

Rosalie understood how to live and treasure the gift of life. Throughout her life, her presence lit up a room, she influenced and comforted her husband, children, grandchildren and lifelong friends, and she lived an exemplar life emphasizing the importance of God, country, family and culture. She will be sorely missed but always remembered.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2 to 6 pm at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah NY 10536. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10am at St. Joseph Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY.  Entombment will follow at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY.
